Habemus Switching Cell Prototype!

The first high-voltage switching cell prototype, built around a 650 V SiC power MOSFET, has been successfully implemented and tested! The switching cell includes advanced functionalities such as embedded switching-cell voltage, current and temperature measurements, and automatic fault-detection and isolation. All functionalities have been experimentally verified at UPC laboratories.

This first prototype, completely built with discrete components, is now being transitioned to SCAPE’s workpakage devoted to converter and building block implementiation (WP4) into a new design incorporating chip embedding.
This switching cell has been designed to be the basic module to build scalable and highly-power-dense traction inverters for electric vehicles.
